Install a kitchen back splash in a camper-caravan-motorhome

Seems like funky tiles are in fashion even for campervans!

Weight and movement is a big issue for campers and motorhomes. Some options are, vinyl transfers, plastic tile sheets, aluminium or stainless sheet (polished or matt) plastic/acrylic/composite panels and maybe just nothing. If you have a timber backing you may like the look of that. Just clear coat it.

But I want tiles! Well, you can tile it as well if you wish. Follow the same procedure as for a timber floor. Firstly, make sure you backsplash area is very secure. You don’t want it moving and then cracking your nice new tiles!

Fix a cement board sheet to the backsplash area using the appropriate fixings and adhesive. Then lay your tiles on top of that. I would use a flexible tile adhesive. Remember these things flex and move. Finish off with a nice grout and remember to seal any joints with silicon.

Job done and because you wont require many tiles, it should be very cheap to do.
