Kitchen cabinet doors not closing?
The good news is, most kitchen cabinet doors can be adjusted quite easily. As long as they’re a quality brand of hinge they have ample room for adjustment.
Firstly, we need to assess the cause of the issue. Is it a faulty catch or hinge or a component failure? Is the location of the hinge stripped or damaged? Is there and settlement or movement of the cabinet, floor or building?
The bi-fold doors in the above picture are a little different. In this situation, the doors were no longer tracking and we were unable to close them at all. It all seemed a bit tricky. After inspecting for structural issues or failures and finding nothing wrong, we looked further into it. These doors were fitted with high quality hardware, a good tracking system and all is well made. What next?
We rehung the doors, adjusted the hinges, levels and clearances. It had to be millimetre perfect. The adjustments are critical to a smooth operation as they can bind very easily. Once that was done, it worked like a dream! We had one happy customer who can now finally use and close her cabinet again.
